What do you guys think of a monthly book to read and discuss here?

Of course, trying to get this crew to agree on the SAME book would take some doing!

Sure, I think it's a great idea.  How would we choose a book?

I would be up for it but currently the only book I am reading is ACE Personal Trainer Manual. So I can become an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. Taking a break from reading it now.

Great idea, but our tastes are all so different.

How about those who wish to participate in the book of the month reading..do so , and so on and so on.

True, our tastes are different but perhaps our reading worlds can be expanded a bit.  Now, who is going to suggest the first book?  I nominate Foxfyre or Photo.

Maybe we should post another poll to see what kind of books we like. Examples like:

Romance
Sci Fi
Mystery

Well, unfortunately, I can't pick The Quartzsite Trip.  I think it would be too difficult for everyone to get copies.

How about The Beekeepers Apprentice by Laurie R King?

Personally .. I think it is a good idea ...

but ...

unfortunately I do not think I could participate ... being over the road for a month or more ... even if I ordered the book on-line and had it shipped to the house ... I would not get it in time to read it much less discuss it ...

you can't fit an 18 wheeler in to most bookstore parking lots ... Hmmmm

Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince (Jul 2005)

or

Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows (Jul 2007)?

The Beekeeper's Apprentice sounds interesting.  I wouldn't be opposed to one of the Harry Potter books, but since I have not read any but the first I wonder if it would be a good read or if I'd need the history to enjoy it.

Well, you COULD read them without reading the previous books, but it would make a lot more sense if you read them in order.  If you get started, you'll be all ready for HP7 in July.  I've pre-ordered my copy, lol.

About 3 books ago, a friend begged me to read them so we could talk about it.  So, yes, now I'm addicted.  As soon as I get the new one, I make a big plate of sandwiches, pitchers of iced tea & lemonade, and tell the boy only to disturb me in an emergency, and read it straight thru.  He has fun, too, because he helps himself to a sandwich whenever he wants and its sort of a holiday.  Of course, this year we don't have a pool.  Hmmmm.
