Is too much technology a bad thing?

What do you think will be the ultimate fallout of today's youth needing to be constantly entertained and stimulated by something other than their imagination?  Is technology to blame, the ease of which information/entertainment is accessible now, the general laziness of parents, the lack of time that working parents have to spend with their children or what?

Why is it considered de rigeur to have a vehicle with a DVD player in it for children? Can a child not be away from movies, etc., for even a little while?  Is that the only way to keep a child quiet and entertained on a road trip?

For that matter, what of the adults who need constant and immediate entertainment - has technology forced us to actually devolve, to rely on external imagery and sounds to keep us amused instead of actually having intelligent discourse or paying attention to the world around us?

Too much technology is a good thing. Lazy parents with no control are the bad thing.

I agree Bread, my kids get the best of the new technology that I can give them, but they also get the control over it that I sometimes impose.

My youngest son would of been quite happy staying at home to play on his latest game today, but I decided that he is playing it too much, so I told him if he don't come out with us then he won't eat because we were eating out.

He also gained a new laser mouse by coming out with us, I wish I had left him at home, kids are always wanting, and I, like a sucker give in to easy.

He did me a big favour though, I bought a new phone, which took longer than expected and I had just 10 minutes to buy my lottery ticket, so we were rushing to the shop to get the ticket when he thought of a closer shop, so we went there instead.

Thing is when we got there, I never had the numbers on me, so he ran back to the car to get them, then I realised I never had any money on me, so I rushed to a cash machine, meeting him half way.

As soon as I had the money he ran to the shop again, and I got there just as he was being served.

Damn, i was lucky he was with me.

Sorry to go off topic in here Bc.

You may not believe me but technology cannot occupy that very natural niche of conventional methods. An additional mobile application will give a little convenience to a small supermarket but will not make it more popular with passers-by. I noticed this effect for a long time. Our store ordered bright signs and a new window dressing and it worked - https://fortunasigns.com/service/sign-installation-company-nyc/  You see, even in the conditions of manufacturability, there are those things that don't change with time. Attractive sign, attentive smiling sellers - it will always be relevant.
