I am heading out to a church retreat tonight. I will be back on Sunday.
I was looking forward to a little sun and nice conversation with my friends from church.....the cold front has come in and its too cold to get any sun. Great. We are making smores tonight so that should be fun with the chilly weather. Campfires and smores are not any fun if its not cold.
This is the first time I have been away from my daughter overnight.....I am not sure how I will handle that. My husband has a weekend full of fun planned for her so she wont get sad and miss me. My husband is a little worried she will get a little sad. Our church is having movie night and a cook-out for all the men and kids who will be without mommy and for the other famlies with mommies who didnt goto the retreat. They have tickets to Sesame street Live for tomorrow, so I think she will be ok.
I will miss you guys too...stay safe and have a good weekend.
you know I will check in here before I go to see what is up.....

I thought if you Toby-Tune... a couple of times this weekend as I was enjoying my time with my sisters in Christ. Due to the nature of my retreat , I had only pleasant thoughts about you and your desire to freeze Texas.
After a few Jason jokes on my part; a transforner blew when a car crashed into it a few miles from camp and the lights on the whole camp were out for several hours. We made smores by the fire and played board games by the lovely glow of laterns, which made me a little light headed. I made it up the stairs to my room once the lights were on and slept to the gentle hum of the heater while visions of masked psychopaths danced in my head.
I really thought of you when I almost slipped down the stairs the last morning I was there because the blasted rain froze. I was carrying my suitcase and ended it throwing up down the steps because my bones are more vaulable to me than a 30 dollar suitcase filled with clothes that werent warm enough for the weekend. I didnt even take my damn gloves because I thought the weather dude was on acid when he claimed there would be freezing temps in the Hill country. My knees felt fine..he didnt know what he was talking about. I had a blue jean jacket and some long sleeve t-shirts to keep me warm Texas chill. Thank God for Girl scout cookies and S'mores.
All in all, I had a lovely weekend....prayed a lot, cried a lot, drank a lot of coffee....made some new friends and Jason and Michael Myers were not in sight.

Sorry that you had a cold weekend. But at least you had fun though. Now you know what we surfer through each and every day here up north. Just think of it this way Christ didn't have heat back in the day, and you experienced what he did on a retreat.
