Veterans, Active Military, and LE

I found this picture while looking for something else, you've probably already seen it, but I'm posting it anyway. It doesn't have to be a special day to honor and say thank you to our veterans and active military personnel, along with the rest of you who have chosen paths that allow me to feel safe in my home at night and to have the freedom that I do. To paraphrase the website where I found this pic, we sometimes forget who the heroes in our society are. I don't have the words to express my appreciation as eloquently as this photograph does, so I will simply say thank you.

The occasion of this photograph was a Veterans Day Commemoration at Dallas City Hall on 11 November 2004. The veteran pictured is Houston James, a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, and the Marine is Staff Sgt. Mark Graunke Jr., a member of an ordnance-disposal team who lost his left hand, one leg, and an eye while defusing a bomb in Iraq in July 2003.

Bless his heart.  Courage and honor = completing tasks without questioning why? Hats off to him and all who serve our country.

Awww that is so sweet. But Butter you forgot some "others" to.  Firefighters have lost their lives due to being killed in buildings. Granted there are as many as Military and Police Officers. But they also deserve the same amount of "Thanks" as much as the above stated.

I have a website (my personal site) has a page dedicated to Military,Law Enforcement and soon a Fire Fighters page.

Brought tears to my eyes seeing that picture.

Thank you to all Military (Veterans and Present),Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters. No words can express how much I am thankful for everything you do to protect my family, friends and myself.

There's about 25,000 free Iraqi citizens who would argue that he's there for all the wrong reasons. Home safe.
