I believe there is a certain free for all until personal attacks start happening.... There is a difference between jokes and harrassing and personal attacks.

Hopefully this will clear up a few things for you zap (and everyone else, too).
The rules and guidelines have been in place since T.O.P. began. In fact, I fairly recently bumped that topic along with a couple of other board info topics.
As mods we are in constant comunication with Photo and with one another in order to ensure that we are all aware of what happens on the forum. We have a responsibility to Photo as the site administrator to do exactly that.
Additionally, no one is saying that new members are to be treated with kid gloves, and the posts in the thread from our newest member (as in other intro threads that we have closed) were not appropriate for an introduction thread. There are no double standards here....absolutely, if ANY member is provoked, whether they are new or not, they have every right to respond in kind. That was not the right place for the new member to post his or her comments, nor was it the right place for some of the posts that followed. For those reasons we felt that thread needed to be closed.
At the moment, a new member is defined as one who has fewer than 25 posts. A member who has posted 25 times or higher is considered to be an active member, which is why that threshold is used as criteria for accessing the restricted areas.

I guess I am missing something.... Didn't ASSHOLE start all that s/he received?
Also, because this place serves no other purpose then having fun (not a mission oriented or pormoting site) why is it an issue if ASSHOLE was being beat down? Either s/he would continue to play along, as s/he was, or s/he would eventually go away.
If s/he goes away, it is no loss to the site as there are no sponsors or ads. Maybe ASSHOLE would come back another day and not be such an ASSHOLE.
but since he/she came out on on the wrong foot as a new member dishing out direct insults right from the begining action was taken. also just so everyones knows he/she has been formaly warned. it is one thing to flame someone for fun but when the insults appear to be malicious in content action will be taking.

basically this has been a very "open" forum and I think the mods have been very cool about shit here. We say whatever, can have what ever AV's we want.....how hard is it to understand that there is a difference between razzin someone a bit and an all out assult????? Geeze people, Asshole was on fire and got pissed on for it.....drama over, move on, business as usual, post like you always do and if you go overboard, you'll know.... This isn't O.com where you get flushed for havin a questionable AV.....
