It puts extra money in my pocket. That's what effects me so that is why I go there. I do not pay for it in the end. I save in the end. The 500$ a year I save at walmart goes very nicely towards my new home

I have shopped Walmart, used to like it until I see more and more stores in an area go under because Walmart moved in. I also see a lot of local businesses go under because Walmart moves in and offers something at a lower cost (and much lower quality). They don't warranty shit either. My brother was dumb enough to buy a TV there, got it home, turned it on, with in a day it started getting darker and darker.....he loaded it up and took it back to Walmart who told him he would have to ship it back to the manufacturer (even though it was only 1 or 2 days old)! Needless to say after a month of arguing with the TV manufacturer, he finally got a new TV. I have heard that story time and time again where Walmart is concerned. They also sell something one week and then never stock it again! I hate that!!!!!


I have watched the walmart mentality spread like wildfire and it's sad to me......when they are the only store left in a town, then people seem to take notice. But until then...they just keep shopping and killing off the "competition" (every other store in a town).

I live in a smaller town, and am surprised to see that the local KMart does very well. They are still up and running. I sneak there every once in a while. But I will be honest with you Kat. I don't shop at Wal mart for any thing I want to last. I buy my groceries, cause they have a huge selection, my kids' clothes (most of them), and houshold goods. And I get them cheaper than I could anywhere else. Now If I want something nice and to last, I go elsewhere. I just don't see blowing the whole store off when you can pick and choose what you want. Be smart. Don't buy a TV at walmart (in no way saying you or your brother are dumb).Ok well I see you said he was dumb. Funny. And I am sorry. I just don't think it is that easy to fool that many people. They obviously have something going if the other competition can't keep up.

I'm glad to hear other stores are still alive in your area (Kmart, etc), but that isn't the case in some Walmart towns. Unless you want to drive to another town to shop, you have no choice but to shop walmart (that was my brother's case anyway). I'm with you, I don't look for quality at walmart, I buy shampoo, dog food, etc there, not electronics or hardware items.

I buy my kids's clothes there because they are cheap. My 9 year old will tear the knees out of a 30$ pair of jeans just as quick as he will a 12$ pair. And I don't buy shoes at walmart. Their shoes are pathetic. Might as well just tie a couple sticks onto 2 pieces of wood with bread ties and wire them to your feet.

You know mofo, I seriously believe if someone could convince you that if you shoot your self in the head, you would never stub your toe again and life would be better. You would think, yea, and do it. Not much depth there. I believe what cat was trying to say was that walmart is killing the competition. Now, you stated, “I just don't think it is that easy to fool that many people. They obviously have something going if the other competition can't keep up.” . The flaw in your assessment is that “everyone can’t make the same mistake” which is unfortunately miss-guided. Have you ever wondered why or how they do it? If it’s such a great thing, why doesn’t everyone do it? Do you think they have special elf’s that make the shit in a back room? And no-one else has access to elf’s? Think it through for just a minute. Take that next leap of thought. Life might make since a bit more outside the “ME, ME, this second, ME, mentality!” MAN! It is in fact that mentality that Wal-Mart capitalizes on and in the process is killing multiple parts of America economic inful-structure that WILL NOT grow back in a day! But I’m sure you allllllllllllllllllready knew that!.


 

I’m sorry to come off so coarse but personally, I can’t wait till it goes to shit so I can sit on a park bench and watch all you idiots walking in circles bumping into each other thinking, “what’s going on? How did all this happen? Who knew?” LOL   The only problem is  I have kids, and I know they are the one’s who are going to suffer for the common lack of foresight.

I used to shop at a store in the UK called ASDA, I shopped there for about 13/14 years, we used to get all our groceries there, some of the kids clothes when they were younger and also electrical items. Anything bought from there including electrical items will be exchanged or refunded if there is a problem with them without any questions being asked.
I stopped shopping there because the cheapness of everything attacted the sort of people to shop there that I don't like to be in close proximity to, such as dirty smelling lowlife scum.
Saying that though my wife, daughter and I did go there today to try to get my daughter some new school trousers, and it was not too bad in there either, maybe the scum shoppers have moved on to another store, I don't know and don't care though because where we shop now, which is about 10 miles away is so much nicer.

Incidentally ASDA has been part of the Walmart family since 1999.

It is their buy in bulk, pile it high and sell it cheap strategy that allows them to be so competitive, which is great in the short term as it forces other stores to lower their prices, but does also have the dire effects of forcing smaller shops that are unable to compete to close. Not too sure how it will affect the economy in the long term though.

I shop at walmart....but that is the only department store here.  I very much miss kmart.


 


That being said....  This is simple economics boys and girls....  walmart is doing it better right now.  Other places aren't.  It is as simple as that.  What walmart misses in other areas...it SERVES the customer with lower prices. 


 


If you just need someone to blame....blame liberal unions who want more and more with less accountability.
