THE LIFE OF A FORUM :

 

Phase 1 – Small number of people gather and come up with the idea of starting forum where they can be more free to do and say what they want with out a shit-load of restrictions. (Fun level begins)

 

 

Phase 2 – Forum catches on and becomes filled with all walks of life discussing anything and everything. (Fun level explodes)

 

Phase 3 – People in said forum be to learn the ins and outs of each other and realize that,,,, there are assholes in the world and some have managed to find there way to said forum. (Fun level peeks)

 

Phase 4 – Certain members realized that they don’t like certain things and now feel they life at said forum and cant leave, so they find a chain of command to bitch and complain.. (Fun level becomes risky)

 

Phase 5 – Moderators, now accustom to the power of said forum are fooled into believing that fun can be policed and responsibility and be imposed for the greater good of all. And thus simple rules are made, pics removed, posts deleted for the greater good of all. (Fun level based on who you know)

 

Phase 6 – Assholes in said forum realize that power can be swayed and fear can be used. And thus, legal issues are brought up, Personal message between deceptive lurkers ensues at record levels. Words like, (high-jacking, offensive, and inappropriate) linger in ever thread. (Fun level reminds you of the case of diarrhea that keeps coming back)

 

Phase 7 – 50% of all threads are about new or existing rules. The only posts that are considered on topic are ones that have the topic name in it at least 3 times. (Fun level depends on if you think like a attorney.)

 

Phase 8 – Normal people give up and find new group of people who know how to have fun… (Fun level is now in line with ass licking)

 

I think we are between phase 6 and 7???? Yes????

Eltsacon, are you upset because I removed some off topic posts in Toby's thread?  He specifically requested no hijacking of that thread, and we as mods have to respect that request even if some other forum members do not. Conversation related to the topic will not be removed, other conversation will.

As for the recently posted guidelines, it would be very easy for us to simply eliminate posts and threads without communicating the reasons, however, it was decided to let everyone know that several information related threads should be kept on topic as much as possible. The expectation of a thread was taken into consideration as well.  As an example, no one reading posts in the "Mommy Corner" should have to worry about seeing adult images or links.  You should realize by now that the rules are not static, as the forum continues to evolve and the needs change, so will the rules.  Just like life.  We cannot be everything to everyone, but we do listen to our members and try to respond appropriately to each concern.  You might be surprised at some of the things that we choose NOT to do.

We cannot and do not try to be everything to everyone.  As evidenced by our not deleting any of your derisive posts about the site and the moderators, we will not stifle opinion.....but even the most lenient of atmospheres requires some degree of structure.
