I keep my phone in my pocket so that I can't get to it, but my curiosity gets the better of me, so I end up fighting to get the seatbelt out of the way of my pocket, then I fight to get the phone out of my pocket, then I will either answer it or go through the settings to turn the bluetooth on, then search the car for my bluetooth earpiece, which I then have to turn on and put in my ear.
Accident waiting to happen I reckon.
Plus it is illegal to use a phone whilst driving over here, you have to be pulled over with the engine turned off.
My department just came down with an order stating that we cant use cells while driving unless its handsfree. Maybe Iam thinking tax write off? Job requirement

For me, dialing is more of a distraction than talking, and now I have voice activated dialing and use a wireless device. I never have extended conversations while I driving, though.
Here, you can be ticketed and fined for using a cell phone while driving, unless you're using it hands-free. I don't disagree with that.

I think even if it is hands free it can be a distraction. Having a conversation with someone who is in the car with you bears no danger whatsoever, but for some reason if I am on the phone I will drive for miles and when I end the call I don't recall the miles that I have driven. Maybe that is just me though.
I think it there should be a law against driving while using the cell phone. I have done it once or twice but since I am a new driver. I try not to do it. Also some SUVs have Onstar in them.

The state of Minnesota did a smart thing and put a law where 16 and under can't drive talking on the cell phone. I do agree with this, most of the time if I am long distance driving more then an hour I will have my hands free system in the car. I also think dialing a number is more distracting then talking on it. Thats why I have all my usual contacts that I call on speed dial. Very handy.
One thing I don't do if its a serious conversation is drive, I will pull over if that is the case. OR if the traffic or road conditions is terrible.

*shrug* I don't know if I"d go so far as to make a law. Just because you might not be capable of safetly concentrating and driving while on the phone....doesn't mean I can't.

Oh well, ain't you the best zap.
How many times have you cursed someone's bad driving, only to realise they are on the phone? It happens to me a lot.

Actually I notice the tags on the vehicle and there from Iowa. Enough said. I try to stay away from those vehicles.

No one said they shouldn't get a pinch for being a destracted driver if they do something stupid. But, if they can pay attention while on the phone and don't do anything wrong...why pinch them for just being on the phone?
That is why I said I personally wouldn't go so far as to make it a law.

yes there should be laws agaist driving and talking/ dialing..
it has been proven that a person that is talking on the cell is as likely or more likely to be as harmful as one that is drunk.
tht said.....hands free is one thing, but diont talk with your hands. there was a guy drive about 6 months back. he STOPPED in the interscetion(with a green light) and was yelling and waving his hands) on the phone of course. Three people ran into to him for stopping in the middle of an interscection/ no traffic in front of him.

Ooooo, this is going to be hard......
Well, I agree with zap, but I will be a bit more blunt about it. More then once it was mentioned by members in here, “I do it, but it should be against the law!” You fucking idiots! No wonder we have to legalize everything. You’re smart enough to know you can’t do it safely, but too stupid not to do it unless you’re not allowed???? Please, ponder that for a while. Geeeezzzz! Personally, I do not have a problem on the phone while driving. Though text messaging is something I refrain from while driving!!! LOL (Tried it once and realized, that was stupid!)

geezzzz, Hey, give me a break. I'm having a hard time with it as it is! LOL
ROFLMAO!!!!! Now now.... I might be harsh but I'm honestly fair. Hell, even if plush came up with a good point I would agree with it! But,,, don't think I will have to worry about crossing that bridge! ROFLMAO
I'm sorry. Is there another term for a person that fits in that scenario? To me, that whole thing was no different then someone putting their hand on a hot stove, yelling “ouch” pulling it off. Waiting 5 seconds and doing it again, and again…. Sorry, that’s an idiot! Ever see the movie caveman? It’s stupid, but hilarious! Sometimes I picture some people in here wearing those fur cloths speaking, “zug-zug”, and” oull”. ROFLMAO.
