Hey E-man,  You saw that over on the O?  So did I.


Glad to see that the LEO has pulled through and recovered so he can go back to work, and didn't die from this freak accident.  That was pretty gruesome and I hope the Transport Company paid all of the Officer Hernandez's medical bills.  He is damned lucky to be alive.  I presume his will to live is very strong, as it should be.

Holy shit, I can't believe he didn't receive any damage to his organs. How the heck can that big of a chunk miss that going all the way through his body.


 


The best part of this story is he survived and went back to work after 3 months. That right there is great.

That's where I think I saw it.


Even after decades in emergency services a wound like that is difficult to look at.  I can't imagine the kind of rehab he had to go through due to the size of the wound.


 


Financially I would hope he's OK.  My experience is if a truck hits you while working, your employer initially pays for everything including Workman's Compensation.  Then when you sue you just re-pay your employer what they put out.  Commercial Vehicles are usually insured out the ass.   Even if he didn't sue I would bet his Department or City would go after the trucking company in a civil suit for his medical bills.
