I remember studying nihilism in high school and it made a lot more sense to me then than it does now. To me it seemed like the next step from Schopenhauerian pessimism, though I'm aware that the ideology preceded Schopenhauer.
I think there's some sense to it. As they say, "reality is not simply physical appearance but a structure and process; a "design," even if we decide there is no Designer". On the other hand we can wonder if a design by definition can be self-generating. I don't think I'd embrace it as a philosophy to live my life by, but it was interesting.
