Favorite Regional Foods

What are some of your favorite regional foods or restaurants? In my opinion:

NJ: best pizza, best Italian food, best tomatoes

New Orleans: Mother's restaurant Mother's

Chicago: Portillo's Portillo's. Their Italian beef sandwixhes and hot dogs are awesome. Chicago also has the best deep dish pizza.

Detroit: Lafayette Coney Island Lafayette

That's all I can think of right now.

Yea, we certainly do have a lot of those here.  Especially if you get out of the big cities (SF, LA) and visit some of the smaller towns. (Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Fresno, etc.)

Ruth's Chris is very good, with the exception of their creamed spinach I think that Morton's and Smith & Wollensky are better. I should have said restaurants that aren't national chains, that are local favorites.

My all time FAV is grits, sausage, wheat toast, and over hard eggs! Chop them all up and mix them up and serve them a little at a time on the buttered toast. Heaven on Earth. Second would be country fried steak with corn and mashed potatos.

Although I don't eat processed chicken, you know me. I have to add a pic to everything.

But I'm a Longhorn man ....    like my cow done right ....

My favorite is still IO's veggie beef stew she makes ...   nothing like home cooking ...

As far as eating out around home ...   Double D's ....    little mom and pop hamburger joint that serves breakfast to.    closed by 3 n the afternoon.

Yes, Texas Roadhouse restaurants are nationwide, I believe. The food's not bad for a chain.

What about restaurants in Southern California?  I like Ambrosia, and hate the Villa Nova.

It would be more descriptive and helpful to either post a link or describe the food as others have done.

If you're in Virginia, the Pig 'N' Steak in Madison has the best BBQ I've ever tasted (next to mine, that is).

BBQ? I love BBQ. How do you make yours, or is it a secret? Believe me, I respect recipe secrets but I always like to learn what others do.

Hotdogs are a necessary thing in my house, especially the expensive natural-casing ones
