In my department, overtime details are filled by a rotating list. First up gets the first call for it, if he accepts he moves to the bottom. If he is not contacted then they call the next name and leave the first guy at first for the next detail. So on and so on.
I knew there was 2 shift shortages for tonight and tomorrow night. I was 4th up. I knew the first 2 were not taking it. Number 3 was probably gonna take one of the 2 shifts leaving me with the other...
They wait till today to fill tonight. Sgt. ******* calls my house, my wife says he is out, he is looking for that detail call his cel. Sgt Numbnuts says "OK I have his cell # right here, I will call him"

DOES HE EVER CALL ME???? NOPE. I called the station a minute ago and talked to a female who is senior officer and she told me they can do that. They are required to just make ONE attempt to contact you, no requirement to call other #s to track you down...
IAM PISSED OFF, that was an EASY 8 hr shift on night turn.

BTW- THis is the same Ahole sgt., that gave me shit last year for that yard fire I located and handed in that 30minute OT card.

Sorry to vent, but Iam fuming. Dont F with my money.......

While I agree with you, it is BS, the easy fix is to remove your home number and only give him your cell.  Now you can be contacted everywhere.

Not a bad idea.  Thing is for this guy to tell my wife and get her hopes up that I got that 8hrs when he knew for s shit he wasnt going to call.  What a buttnoser...


Same guy if you remember my thread awhile back about that backyard fire I fouind at 515am.  Saved the house etc.  He gave me shit about a 30 min. overtime card...


He was NOT on the chiefs good side and would frequently be heard in his office in a pissing and yelling match.  When he got to the Sgt. promotions, This turd got the stripes....He sold out too,  as soon as he got the stripes his attitude changed.  This is a prime example

Not much if I recall. I got paid, i dont remember if he even apologized or not.  He has since resumed talking to me like a friend etc.  WHICH could be dangerous.  As shown in the reason for this thread.  He probably figured Fuck em,  I dont need to call him on his cell so I tried once and he wasnt around...


Guess its all in the name on your nametag not your contribution to the community..

 Guess what ended up happening with my being screw out of the 8 hours OT???

I go into work my regular schedule Friday, 3-11.  Half way thru the shift, the OIC calls me and asks if  I WANT 8 HOUR SHIFT SHORTAGE TONIGHT. {Friday}  I say what happened, the shift was already filled.  He said NOPE,  Guy got into an accident and he is going to be off for a week or 2.  They need ANOTHER PERSON FOR The Night Shift....


I work 16 hours yesterday.  AND gots me a nice DUI arrest ....


KARMA,  MOTHER FUCKING KARMA.  8 hrs OT baby
