Hardware wise, they are great machines. BUT, in an information age, standards are a must. Apples have pretty much there own standards, though that has gotten much better in resent years. If the MAC is for doing it's own work, and doesn't have to integrate with other PC's, you should be fine. But if you want to exchange software, documents, what have not, you will find the "computer frustration level" growing rather quickly.
