my car died today.....

So, I am driving myself to work this morning, as I normally do.

The car infront of me jumps to the other lane fast, and all of a sudden....

    C             R             A            S                H

Some freakin idiot had stoped, (like placed his jeep in park stopped) in the lane of the freeway, no hazzards, and the lane to the right is merging from another freeway to this one.

I slammed my brakes, and went full force into the back of him at about 55. (I was at 60 when I started breaking.......there was no where to go, nothing I could do....) there was a car on my side, and him. Then got kicked back about 15 feet from the impact.

car is dead. there was about 2 inches between where the bumper was and where it folded my engine up into my front. My hood, litterly a V.........air bags depoyed and all.

next up, a toyota carolla did the same thing, only I got the joy of being flung back 15 feet and across a lane of traffic. he didnt.

now al i see when I close my eyes is his freaking break lights.

he got the ticket, after getting hit by a bus.

he is ok, but I was told he was a diabetic and his blood sugar was like 260 and he was freaking out.

the cop told me he didnt understnad how I got out of my car, and how I didnt hit the wall or another car.oh yeah, I am one very sore girl right now.

The main thing is that the car did what it was designed to do, and you are alive.  Deploying Airbags will make you sore for a while, but you will live through it.  Please tell me he has insurance? and or you have uninsured motorist coverage in case he doesn't.

yes CTR man, I have it, and I was told he has insurance. I will prolly have to dip into mine due to the 6 cars, his will pay out but only what they have to

there where 6 cars involed, plus a special investagation due to the bus hitting him.

I had a 2001 accord. (thats why my frame never bent.....and it started with the engine)

He was in an older jeep......I am grateful I am alive.

now my knees and shoulders, they hurt.

I am getting some SUV. period.

Ouch... Sorry to hear about that TC and your car.

Why is she at fault if the dude stopped his car on the highway? And not on the shoulder. Isn't he at fault too?

CTR man is right, the car did what it was supposed to do and fortunately you walked away from the accident. A car is just a thing and it can be replaced.

I am suprised that your chest isn't sore from the airbags.  Hondas are usually built pretty well, but hitting a jeep is like hitting a brick wall.  Hopefully you can stay with Honda and get a Ridgeline or a CRV.

Would everyone be at fault since they hit him from the rear? I don't think so.  Keep us posted on the investigation, TC.

I have to agree with Butter too. A car can be replaced. You can't

Been there done that once, but I got the ticket, good ole sunshine state.  I am just glad that you are okay, cars can be replaced.  SUVs (love mine) are good, but my old 77 Ford truck is better, a tank.

my car looks like it hit a wall. At first, because I was flung so far back, they told me they thought I had hit the wall of the freeway. (my car stopped at an angle less then 2 inches from the wall, I crossed the merging traffic lane. ) but to look at the toyato and my car, the same thing comes across...it looks like we hit a wall.

my chest is sore, my knees are swollen and my soulder is hurting. a far cry from what could have happen............

I closed my eyes KNOWING i was going to have an impact. I felt it and dont know how long I had my eyes closed.....but when I opend them a big white 18 wheeler was passing me. thats why I keep seeing his break lights.

both my car and the toyota are totalled.

The Jeep should be totalled, too, since he was hit by a bus.  Right?  Or did the bus just graze him?

he was hit, not his jeep. but Im sure after two rear end hits...he will be totalled out.

He had gotten out and was walking around and then the bus grazed him, but he went to the hospital by HFD.

He was outside the vehicle???  Damn, talk about lucky to be alive.  He could have easily become hamburger meat.  Too bad there aren't any pics of the wreck.

Have you seen a doctor, yet? and if so, did they prescribe any painkillers for you and are you taking some?

I 10 East and waco. the story of the bus hitting a man got the choppers out during, but heres not really any write up or pics.

I was less then 5 blocks from my work.

He was out of the jeep when I finally got out of my car, but we never actully got to talk. I hopped the wall and was sitting on the incline of the back, so not to get hit by traffic.
