By the way, I did go to Mother's when I ws in New Orleans. In fact, I went twice, haha. Unfortunately I didn't have time to venture out of the Quarter.

Rub it in , why dont you.......... I am happy you were able to experience the little bits of N.O that Katrina didn't destroy.
I heard you got some beads, too. Did you go to Mulate's? I have only been there once when I met my in-laws for the first time. They werent my in-laws then, but I was hoping they would be.
Glad you are back , safely.

Yes, I was able to enjoy a little of the French Quarter. I just didn't have very much time to do anything other than conference events. Of course, the highlight of my trip was the time I spent with Mavriktu.
I did go to the Court of Two Sisters, but other than that I didn't have a chance to go anywhere else. I'm going back though, perhaps later this year, because it was really odd to be there and not do or see anything, if that makes any sense.

That makes a lot of sense. When we went to visit my in-laws shortly after the initial chaos of Katrina piped down, we talked about going to NO. Our favorite spots to visit were not open yet, so we decided against it. The shock about it all had not simmered down yet and I told my husband that I did not want to visit NO for the first time after Katrina and just see the damage she had caused, I wanted to do something..to keep the fun memories I have of NO still going. We waited until April to go and even though we saw some of the damage, seeing so many people gather to enjoy a little bit of NO at the festival was nice.
