I'm out of ideas.

I want to debate on something, but nothing comes to mind.

Generally I stay away from abortion and things like gay marriage because they ultimately degrade into a religious issue and go nowhere fast.

Any ideas?

Although loath religion, I wouldn't say that. I would amend that statement to say "More people have died in the name of religion than anything else."

And before them flaming starts, I'm not talking about one's beliefs. I'm talking about religion.

But seriously...what do you think about that 62 year old woman who just had a baby. This is her 12th child. She is a grandmother, great grandmother and this is her second child with her 48 (I think) year old husband. I dont know how many times she has been married......

Look up the story if you need more info.

I want to know if you think it is selfish of her young husband to expect her to have children.  The child was concieved through in-vitro fertilization which I dont have a problem with...thats a marvel of science, in my opinion.. I have friends who have done that and it quite rigourous. Even though she was willing to do this......dont you think hubby is a bit selfish for wanting a child with her, much less a second so that his child will have a sibling.

jump back in the kids/guns thread.....I would love to see what you think now that its run all over..... (Yes, I actually asked for your opinion even after we bumped heads on the tatts.....I like to hear diverse views....not just the PC things to say)

On a side note....anything similar with that issue where you're at? I put that in the thread, but no one has really answered that question at all?

I suppose I should qualify my statement. When I say more people were killed over religion, I'm not talking strictly numbers. I'm talking per capita in relation to the population of the world at the time. For example, I'm sure there weren't even 55 million people on the planet at the time of the Crusades, but that's how many people died in WWII.

To answer your question, CZ, I would argue that since WWII was started to take Hitler out of power, then a small percentage of that 55 million was killed in "Hitler's" name. They more mostly killed in the name of Germany, USA, and in the case of 6 million Jews, Atheists, and homosexuals, their religion and beliefs.

I started going cross-eyed when the posts started taking up a quarter of page. I'll check for any points you wanted to specifically address, but y'all were getting as bad as me over there.

They highjacked my thread and turned it into a paper wadd throwing thread!

I would like some peeps to comment on the "how and/or whys" LE or military would be good instructors. You are active LE correct? There was a comment made that LE hasn't got the experience to deal with teens, I was greatly confused by that comment. I know quite a few officers and they have a great repore with teens. And I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything similar in their state....

I'm trying to re-claim mt thread....but it requires a "group" effort....LOL

Exactly. Especially when it's over who learned what, where. And especially when it has nothing really to do with the topic at hand.

Well....in that case I guess I should mention that I find it rather rude and assinine when people attack the person rather than their ideas.....which, if they would have SHUT THE FUCK UP and listened rather than whining about the qualifications being worthless....they would have gotten the concept first time around.

..........then again....maybe not.......some just don't get it no matter how many times or ways you explain something to them

Liberal democracy is neither liberal nor a democracy.  Discuss.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage."

Your looking at it from the US view (why WWII started) for us Europeans it was that hitler was gonna ake control over Europe and start with his "master race" build up. Thank god the USA showed up (Canada to ofcourse) to save the day. But what i mean is that you COULD say that it is an example of how easily the public can be made to believe in and follow one person. Especially in an era of no internet, CNN and mobile phones. Hitlers proves that you donīt have to be a genius or for that matter have any sane ideas to get a following. Itīs by knowing when to say what to say and to whom. The guy was a totall nutcase but everyone loved his ideas because in them they (the real arian people) would get more power. In fact you could say he became a religious leader. Now if you go back 2000 years back in time and have people in the same miserable conditions as the german people were in when Ahole showed up to spread his filth, itīs not hard to imagine somebody showing up taking advantage of that 2000 years ago. In fact it still happens all the time.

Ok now consider that most crusades were to retake some holy city, artifact or rescue prisoners. And to plunder, rape and pillage everything darker then yoghurt along the way. So apart from the soldiers killed in name of religion letīs look at what happens along side that. Men are conscripted into the army so the farms canīt produce enough foods. Army takes all the food it needs leaving less for the citizens. Thus child deaths grow. Diseases are brought in by the invaders, stripe off some more. Invaders kill citizens as they "donīt follow the true god so we can hurt, rape, kill them etc without penalty." Living conditions worsen and in those days bumping your toe could mean dying of infection so you do the math. 55 million i have no idea of but donīt forget the crusades lasted a helluvalot longer then WW1 and 2 combined.

Your turn
