I didn't know where else to put this. I have an interview on Thursday at 220pm for a job (Parking Enforcement). Then today while my SO and I were having lunch together. One of his friends from the place where he used to work at walked in and told him that someone was using him as a reference for a job. Then my SO says, uh oh that will be a definite disqualification (of course they were joking around). Then my SO asked the last name of the applicant and guess who it was (me). So my SO told the guy whom is in charge of all the jobs in the depart who that person was. The guy told me that I would be expecting a call from them. Yipeeeee!!! I much rather work for them then with any other place especially since I live in the town where the job is. It may be only part time but atleast it will get my foot in the door.
Happy Happy Happy... I hope to have some other WONDERFUL news soon too but will have to wait.
Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

There were 4 people in the room : City Manager,Police Detective, and two board members. Only three of the asked me questions (Police Detective, and the two board members). First the city manager asked me to tell about myself to them a bit. Which I did and then they each asked me two questions.
You will have to excuse me if I can't remember all the questions as I have told almost everyone I know about the Oral Board Interview.
They asked me what I do to relieve the stress (outside of the job). I told them that I goto the gym, walk on the beach, read my book or goto baseball games. I let them know I am big baseball fan.
Next question asked me to think of a scenario where I was going around writing tickets for cars/trucks etc... and I would have to call a Police Officer for assistance. So I thought of one involving a gun in plain eye sight as I was walking around the car. I told them that I saw the gun in site and radioed it in to the P.D. Letting the dispatch know what I saw and that the person was approaching the vehicle. The Officer arrived just in time before the person left in his car and took him in.
They asked me two more questions and asked me if I wanted to add anything else. So I did. The City Manager and I left the room. I asked him how many hours the job would be and what days of the week. He said that it would be 4 hours a day and five days a week (its a part time job). He said that they were going to discuss who were the two qualified people for the job and that we would be nofitied via snail mail.
I have another interview on Monday for a Police Assistant 1 job in my hometown. I think this will be better for me since I know the town and have lived here for 32 years. So I am really looking forward to Mondays Interview. Wish me luck!! I much rather get the job working the Police Assistant than the other job working as a Parking Enforcement Officer. Atleast until I can become a Police Officer plus this will give me an inside advantage to knowing when they are hiring.
