RE: mens rights

Zap, I don't think I've been as emotional as you seem to think.  In fact, as I've said before, child support is not even an issue which is particularly close to my heart.  I've been annoyed by Shane a few times, and wrote a couple of posts trying to make him see how women FEEL (the F word apparently).  I don't see how emotion can be separated from this issue.

Yes, I agree that many things need to be changed about the system, for women as well as men.  Is that all you wanted?  There,  you have it, and I've said it several times before.

A noble effort I think, but I hope (realistically) none of you expect real change any time soon in the law.

No, I doubt things will change much even in the long run.  Even the guy who brought the lawsuit which inspired this thread admits that all he's trying to do is bring some attention to the issue.

To me, the point of having a friendly debate on an internet forum is to make each other think.  That's why I for one LIKE to hear people's personal ancecdotes and personal feelings about things.  I also like to express things I might not normally discuss in my everyday life.

For instance, that issue I mentioned of guys pressuring women for sex and never even asking if they're on birth control.  That's just a personal issue for me, but if I were a guy reading that it might make me think twice and maybe reconsider my behavior.  I would appreciate knowing how women FEEL about it.  Reading the others' posts has made me more aware of just how big of an issue this is for men, and I do in fact see their point.  It's made me seriously think about how I might feel if my son's girlfriend got pregnant.

I don't expect our debate to change anything, but I have found it interesting and enlightening.

I will have to do a lot of reading to get caught up on this debate. I am really interested in this subject because I recently got screwed in a big way.

I agree.  I doubt much will change anytime soon.  The reason for that is the F word that Entre pointed out.  We have gotten to be more of a F word society than a THINKING and LOGICAL society.

But the point I made is still valid...WE ARE THAT SOCIETY!!!

Entre....I am not directing my comments at you directly...and don't want or expect you to simply say "there I said it I give up...I've rolled over and peed"  That is not the purpose at all.

In another breath, you said that you see things slightly differently.  THAT was the point.  It also shows that you are open minded and can see logical arguments even when they FEEL wrong to you.

For some people (not saying you are one) that is a HUGE step.

The definition of insanity - doing (debating) the same thing over and over and expecting different results. SH, good points. EN, the woman still gets the choice to abort a pregnancy, with or without a man's consent. So, saying that the genders are on equal footing is simplily not true. And to asnswer your question. I am waivering on childcare and medical costs, but at an absolute minimum. To put it simpliy, is it fair to charge "medical costs" for a child he wanted not to exist?

TJAW....this is a good thing to remember when reading this thread from start to finish. It has a lot of good points, great suggestions, and repetitive "circle jerks" that will make you want to pull your hair out! LOL But, it may also make you see some sides of the "male perspective" you had never imagined. It's good reading!

I'll be brief because I'm on someone else's connection, but I don't remember where I "rolled over and peed".  I believed things were unfair to men since the beginning, and I believe I noted that in my first post. But I do object to a lot of peoples' thinking on the subject, and that hasn't changed at all.

But yes, you're right, we are society.  (Was that rolling over and peeing?)
