Toby, I know you and Zap are peaking in and reading this and steaming, but seriously listen to what I am about to say. (BTW ZAP sit there and plug it) "we will look for XYZ job" is the oldest trick in the recruiters bag of tricks! Having said that, if you wanna fix planes, that is great... go for it! If you want to be an MA, call your recruiter and tell him to take you back to MEPS, you want an MA job, or you are not going in. He will tell you that you already signed the paperwork, and there is nothing that can be done right now. Even though you took a "ceremonial" oath, you are under no obligation until the day you report for active duty and take your entrance oath. If you want to be an MA, you will have to force them to make it happen, or find another branch of service that will give you what you want. Don't believe me, call up another recruiter from another branch and ask them if the can get you what you want and get you out of what you are in now. I will say nothing more about it. Again, if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

My recruiter told me I am not leaving in Aug for basic, because I didn't get an MA job. He said i would expect one or more to be open in 2 weeks, no questions asked. So I am going on that route. And we talked about some other issues we can do to get MA.

Toby, don't think I am an asshole, I would rather see you get what you want, and force them to give it to you then to have you meet the needs of the service and be miserable. Recruiters are sales people, and they will do what ever it is to close the sale.
