I know people are always beyotching about spam emails but I dont get any. What I do get is TONs of freakin spam mail, real mail from credit cards, banks, home improvement crap, SEARS and the weekly couipon shit from the local stores. I mean tons of it. Does anyone know of a Do not Send SPAM mail list? Like the do not call registry???? Or I could just save a bunch and send it back to the worst offenders...

The three major credit bureaus may have different requirements on how to opt-out. You can write your own letter or use our Sample Opt-Out Letter to request that your personal information not be shared with others or used for promotional purposes.
The national credit bureaus offer a toll-free number that enables consumers to opt-out of all pre-approved credit offers with just one phone call. Call 1-888-5-OPTOUT (1-888-567-8688) for more information.
Visit the web site or phone each bureau for their most up-to-date information.
The FTC publishes free brochures on credit-related issues. For a complete list of publications, write for Best Sellers, Consumer Response Center, Federal Trade Commission, Washington, DC 20580; or call (202) FTC-HELP, TDD (202) 326-2502.
OH I agree with this one. I am afraid that the cost of postage would go up if the post office quit delivering junk mail, they make a lot of $$$ off of it. I worked at major insurance company in the mail room, we use to send out in excess of 250K worth of junk mail a week!!!
The PO sees a bigger picture then you see with your couple letters and flyers a day.

Those are good resources, but marketers by info that is gatherd from so many sources and the info they buy can be tailored to a specific subject, that you would have to quit living to get away from having your info shared, and then when you die that info is shared too!
One sure way of cutting down on your junk mail is to get a P.O. Box, they do not deliver "cart-sort" mail to P.O. Boxes. It will not stop those who buy your name and send bulk mail, but it will stop a lot of crap mail and adds a bit of privacy.
I heard of a person who sent in a cylinder block on the prepaid envelop things, where if you return it, they pay for it. Try that out. That would not stop it, but make them pay a lot more.
Or better yet, fill it up with dog shit. That is what I am going to do next time.

You are correct Toby, they do pay for it. You must have been the one who sent in the box of rocks. 68 lbs of gravel in a cardboard box, with the "no postage needed" postcard taped to the top of the box.
BTW, sending biohazards in the mail could get you in trouble, and you don't need that getting ready to go in the military
