Fucking four wheelers

East bound on I-20 in Alabama.....construction zone.....55MPH and trucks use left lane posted all over the fucking place...

And what does some idiot do....    Cuts me off so close that I don't even see the ass end of his pickup and slams on his brakes.....    Guess I wasn't speeding and using the right lane as per his spesifcations.....

I have to slam on my brakes, I slow down to about 5MPH,  but I miss him, My load shifts,  the truck behind me barley stops in time, and behind him,  traffic is braking and swapping lanes trying to avoid ramming into anyone else....  The people in the right lane run off the side so I don't hit them.   And then the basted shoots me a bird and hauls ass.

If I had been hauling rolls of paper or steel coils today.   When they shifted they would have caused me to roll over onto the traffic in the right lane....   The steel coils would have just went through the side of my trailer and crushed whatever they landed on...  As it is now,  when I open up this load of cabinets for delivery tomorrow,   Guess who gets to pay for any damage to the load..

First off people....  if you can't read the sings and understand them....   get the fuck off the higway...

Secondly....If you do not have time for trucks to run safe and legal on the highway...   call you fucking congress man  and tell him to out law trucks that do so.....you don't have the time or the Patience and your just plain tired of people doing the fucking speed limit..

And thirdly.....One of these days.....when some idiot does this.... ( and it happens quite often)   It's getting harder and harder to not forget to hit the brakes and see just how far I can shove eighty thousand pounds up some ones ass....

And who was it that said that theirs was the only profession that people try to kill them in????...    never mind....

I agree with everything you both said. How can people be so stupid?

Here in Denver a couple months ago a guy in a Jeep got pissed off and cut off another guy and slammed on his brakes. The guy behind him tried to swerve and miss him but hit the corner of the guy's Jeep which caused him to lose control and go into the median. His vehicle flipped upside down and landed on top of a Bronco in the other lanes. Both innocent drivers were killed instantly. Two good men killed because of a selfish asshole.

The officer noted in his report that the Jeep driver was unconcerned about the two dead men a couple hundred feet away and at one point said they got what they deserved.

Colorado tracks driver complaints sent into a hotline and the Jeep driver had already received a letter about multiple reports of aggressive driving against him.

He has been in jail ever since and currently is charged with two counts of first degree murder.

I received a CDL a few years ago but never became a driver. I wish everyone could see what's involved in safely driving a big rig and how tiny and delicate their cars and trucks are in comparison. Maybe if they did they'd develop a little common sense and give truck drivers the respect they've earned and deserve.

I'm glad they are big rig drivers like Straight Up who are professional and on the look out for everyone's safety, including their own.

And drivers like texaschickeee who know how to drive properly and with courtesy to make the roads safer and more enjoyable for everyone as well.

Kudos to Straight up for doing what you have to do to get the freight delivered on time and safely.  Reminds me of a truck wreck we had here recently.  Tanker Rig was headed North on Ca State Highway 99 with a full load of Formic Acid.  Rig ended up going off the road on the right, across a shallow ditch onto the frontage road into a retaining wall for a housing development.  Clean-up took days with residents displaced out of their homes.  EPA and Haz-mat had to be called in.  I would be willing to bet he was cut off.  Or fell asleep.  Driver of the rig had to be extricated, but at least he lived.  Thank God no one was killed. No homes were damaged. The retaining wall did its job.

As a freight receiving clerk I have seen my share of damaged merchandise.  Makes me wonder what the hell happened.  I always give truckers plenty of leeway, and try to stay the hell out of their way.  When we have damaged merchandise to this extent we have to call security to come out and take pictures of the load inside the trailer so that a claim can be made.  I remember a load of powdered baby formula that had to be restacked because it was loaded wrong.  Instead of staggering the pallets in the trailer or placing them end to end, they were placed on both sides of the trailer with an aisle down the middle.  You can guess what happened.  The merchandise caved in on it self.  Smashed cases everywhere.  All it would take would be to have the rig take one or two sharp turns and the mess would be everywhere.  Good thing for the trucker, it was decided that it was loaded wrong and the Shipper had to pay for the damaged cases instead of the Driver or the Carrier.  That would be enough to ruin my day if I had to restack this load.

It irritates me to no end to hear people complain about the truckers out there.  How in the hell do they think the food they eat, the clothes they wear and other merchandise they buy gets to them.  Do they think the stuff just matriculates out of thin air?  Some people are so stupid.  Do they think Big-Rigs can stop on a dime?  I, too, sometimes would like to see 80,000 lbs of Big-Rig shoved up someones ass.  Driver to Officer "4-wheeler cut in front of me and stopped or slowed down drastically and I couldn't stop in time.  I had no where to go."

Just out of curiosty, Straight-Up.  What is the most expensive load you have ever hauled?  Ever haul a full 53' trailer loaded with cigarettes?

A machine for NASA....  Guy said it cost about 10 mil..

Some fiber optic stuff  about 2 mil....

Used to haul radio active waste out to Mercury and Clive, UT  for awhile....   gave it up after one of the drums busted open just after it cleared the dock plate during unloading.....

Hauled gas for awhile to around Atlanta...    Never got scared of the gas...  just the idiot around me doing stupid things

never on the cigs....   I can get them out of Miami but I don't try for Florida much....

From what I am told a 53 footer of cigs runs about 6 to 8 mil depending on if they are on pallets or hand stacked on the floor of the trailer.

Had a load of lap top computers out of the Los Angeles area that I had to call for help on....The same two pick ups followed me for about a thousand miles...  Stopped every where I did and kept me in sight at all times....

Never seen them again after they seen me talking to a Texas bear...

I drove truck for 3 years...  I had some assclown do the swoop and stop thing on me and as a Result Kraft made a BIG claim on all of that Mayo that was all over in the back of my trailer. I dropped that mess in a big hurry and found an empty before they decided I needed to tend to cleaning it!!

I had another load that had a big claim on it. This one was not my fault at all. A load of Dryers Grand Ice Cream out of Hayward, CA.  The trailer refridgeration unit decided to heat instead of cool.

Most expensive load I ever hauled was a load of over the shoulder double boulder holders!!! Them bitches are spendy!  That was the only load that the shipper did a background check on me too.
