You should know she is very special to both SU and I…
But things have come to pass that we have a hard decision to make….
We are thinking about finding Copy Cat a new Home….for the following reasons:
She is a longhaired calico Prussian. Her shedding has become a problem with the AC and Heating unit(s) in the truck. Her hair clogs up the vents and shuts down the units…which are usually running because it is too hot or cold outside to leave her in the truck without one of or the other running.
She is not welcome in certain hazardous material plants and some repair shops such as Freightliner shops. So I have to stand outside at the shop or at a gas station with her while the truck gets fixed or loaded.
She has developed an "Attitude". She has started nipping at my feet and biting at my hands when I try to pet her. I am not sure for what reason.
Then there is the Litterbox. In such a small area … ie. The truck… it is hard to keep the litter from being tracked by her paws just about everywhere.
I have a hard decision to make….
I love my Copy Cat. I love to let her sit in my lap as we ride down the road and listen to her purr. I love to brush her soft fur and then run my fingers through it as I scratch her ears and nose. I love the way she plays fetch with the bells and balls that we get for her. The way she trots across the floor shaking her head with the bell in her mouth ringing it as she brings it back to me to toss again for her to chase. I love the way she knocks the alarm clock off my night stand when the alarm goes off in the morning, and then jumps up and lies down on my shoulders purring and needing trying to wake me up. Not to mention the way she follows me into the bathroom and jumps into the tub looking up at the faucet waiting for me to turn the water on for her to take a drink. Then there is the fact that I have always had a cat as a pet since I can remember.
We thought about leaving her at home with our son…but then the last cat we left at home with him is still missing. His name was Pockets.
I thought about leaving her with my Mom, but she can not have an indoor pet because of her lease. Copy Cat is an Indoor / In-Truck Cat.
This is going to be a hard decision….to make for us…if you have any suggestions, please let us know…
Here she is...again...

Just a couple of suggestions. Maybe a "lion cut" would help with the hair in the vents. A squirt with a water bottle might help with biting, though it may take a couple of weeks. You might also want to have her seen by the vet, in case she's having some discomfort which makes her not want to be touched. As for litter, the kind made with compressed wood seems to not track so badly, especially if the used litter is removed ASAP (as it turns to sawdust when wet and then can be tracked - though still not as badly as other brands). It's called Feline Pine, and Trader Joe's has something similar.

Alright Guys... SU and I discussed it.. and we decided we would give the Kid a second chance to take care of one of our animals ...
We had "Copy Cat" implanted with a chip that if scanned gives a code and it can be looked up to find out who the animal belongs to and where. We thought this would be a good idea even if she got out of the truck while we were on the road.
While I was home for the past week. I had it done. She seemed not to even notice that it was there. I also introduced her to the Great Outdoors of our yard. For short visits on her leash to know the yard and just in case the Kid let her out she would be able to find her way back home ...
Straight Up and I talked and ended up leaving her home this trip ...
Now only 48 hours have passed and She is GONE ... the Kid let her out and left her out all night...and then called me this morning ... I had to ask where is "Copy" and then he told me. I ask him to go look for her... he said he would... I called back 2 minutes later... and he answered the phone very quickly ... he said he had looked for her ...
He promised me that he would take care of her...now I do not know where she is and he will not even look for her more than 2 minutes ...
All I can do now is hope the animal control pick her up and they scan her and call us ...

On a side note - My vet gave us a prescription that has drastically slowed the shedding of Hairy (female long haired-calico). Might help Copy? Possibley trying something like cheese cloth over the vents to keep the hair out and the air moving? And the attitude change (biting) might be a medical problem or jealous-type reaction?
I really hope you get her back and decide to keep her, she sounds like a part of the family to me?
US, I have removed your post and the accompanying photo because it was mean spirited, hurtful, and offensive not only to InsideOut, but to other members who viewed this thread.
We are making every effort to let adults be adults and not censor posts, but that went too far and even if I had not received requests for its removal I would have removed it immediately upon sight. Please do not re-post that anywhere on this forum. - Buttercup
tht was not the post thatwas deleted. he must have made another post, that was futher out then that one. BC stated there was a pic, so.....prolly the dead cat in the high way or something. sadly, that was the post not the one you quoted.
I was out of line with my antics in this thread. I am sorry for any hurt feelings that I may have caused. SU&IO, I know my words wont heal the loss you feel, and I certainly didn't need to add to your pain.
