Guys just don't get it!

Okay, so I talk to my female friends, and even if they are UP TO THEIR NECKS in SHIT they ALWAYS take the time to ask me how I am, and they ACTUALLY LISTEN to my answers.  You know what?  They even take the time to sympathize and give me feedback!

My male friends, on the other hand, can literally talk for hours about themselves and their problems without once asking how I am doing.  And if they manage to start the conversation with "How are you?" and I answer with anything other than "Fine, how are you?" it is IGNORED.

NEWS FLASH:  Guys, if you want me to listen to all your bitching and moaning and give you appropriate feedback, it would be nice if you would reciprocate!!!    Friendship is SUPPOSED to go both ways!

No, this is not aimed at any ONE specific person.  It is a pattern I've noticed over the past several months.  It's just bugging me more than usual today because I had a really rough night last night, and the two friends I happened to talk with last night and this morning were male, and neither of them seemed to give a shit.

From personal experience, I know there are some men who take the time to truly listen, but you're right...many of them don't seem to know how to handle it.

I agree with you Ninjamom!! The vast majority of men are self centered when it come to the womens side of the conversation. Which really is a shame! We--as guys-- need to pay more attention to the ladies in our lives, wether she is a wife, S.O. or just a friend!!!!

Just my opinion....

Excuse Me ................   Thought I herd some one say something .....

No ...  really ,....    with guys its more like some kind of birth defect or some thing...    No Matter how hard I try .....    It's not long before I hear those words ...

" YOUR NOT LISTENING TO ME "

It's not because I don't want to ....   And It's not because I'm intentionally tuner her out.    But more likely to be that I'm deep in thought about something like " I wonder if that girl is wearing panties "  Or maybe   " How is it that a dog can lick it's balls?  "

Also ....   keep in mind that you don't want guys to be to sensitive ...   ie.....    they start matching colors and borrowing your blouse to go out in...   No    leave a little man in your man so you can enjoy him when the time comes

I have to agree with Us.....the best listener in my older teens and younger 20 years was my gay friend. He  always listened to me  and I never had to wonder if he was just being nice so he could get in my pants.....he would joke that he was just being nice so he could get in my boyfriends pants.

It was on T.V. the other night, TLC or Discovery channel. We are not wired to listen to a certain frequency of sound and it so happens that that frequency is about the same as a female voice. We are not physically able to hear that level of sound.

We are also not able to exhibit emotions other than PISSED OFF-NESS, like when watching sports and there is some inaudible sound going 'BLAH BLAH BLAH, make me look fat,BLAH BLAH BLAH?"  "When are you goig to blah blah blah fix the .......?"

OK.....I think that frequency deal is B.S. Its all about being naked, holding a beer in one hand and a football in another.....

"Honey, do I look fat in this?"

"Well baby, bend over and let me get a better look"

"OK, you want me to hold the beer or the football while I do that? By the way, while you are you in a huddle to catch this ball, listen up....I am 2 weeks late, we are having a baby, I think  my mother is moving in and we are out of coffee......"

I've actually found that my guy friends listen pretty good, as long as I assert myself and make it clear that there's something I need to talk about.  (Otherwise they never stop talking.)

Granted, they try to give advice and fix the problem rather than just listening, but I like that because they're pretty good at it.

I have an online gay friend who can be an excellent listener and has been very helpful to me, but he can also be a major psycho jerk sometimes.

Well, my husband listens..its all in the way I say it!

For instance, I was watching a show last night and said, "That would nice to have on DVD".....he smiled at me and I winked at him and giggled a bit.

He left to pick up Chinese and on his way home, stopped at Best Buy and bought me the 3rd season of the show I like as a belated addition to my birthday gifts. He apologized that he couldnt find the 1st season...how is that for listening?

I have been really nice lately......using a different tone of voice  and all. Its working!

Note to self:  find gay guy friends.  I lost touch with all of them when I got married.

From now on when a guy starts in with the telling me how awesome he is in bed or what a sucky day he has had or how brilliant he is, I will start the thing, and see how he feels.

Sorry, but you can't stereotype all guys as being the same, I love listening to others problems and if possible helping them with them.

I never feel the need to just talk about myself.

Yes, Sparky helps with computer problems and he sticks with you until they're solved.  I imagine he'd be the same about other problems too.

I totally understand!  I try to talk to CTR about something that is bothering me or a problem I need to work out and Im lucky if I get more than a "Man Grunt" or a "That's nice honey" out of him.

Sometimes I think I might get more of an answer out of him if I put my question on one of these forums he likes to lurk around on!

Very Funny. hahaha.  Sometimes when I come to talk to you, you are engrosed with your Sims projects or talking on the phone with your friends that you tell me to come back later.  By that time, Ive forgotten what it was to be discussed.  Love you too, Kitty.

*sigh*  Well, considering it's midnight now, I will be better today, barring any more run-ins with the asshole I married.  Yesterday (Wednesday) was a bitch, and Tuesday was hell.

Divorce sucks.  I normally don't swear, but this whole situation has brought it out, and I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone by it.  I just want the whole thing to be over and done with so I can move on with my life, and my kids can have some peace and security.

Thank you for asking, BC.  And how are you feeling?  Healing up okay?

Maybe the lack of a number was the reason. lol.

Oh, and my international calling card ran out. :(

How are you anyway nm6?

divorce id hard on everyone involed. Its the greif of letting go, the heartbreak of a dream breaking and the sad fact is some take it out on each other rather then lick their wounds in their own circles.
