Ronin- the babies are draft horse crossed with thoroughbred. The one with the funny fly mask is an off the track racehorse (thoroughbred). The one I am jumping with is an Appaloosa.
I also have an appendix quarter horse. I will have to try and find a picture of her. She is leased out to someone.
I kind of figured that the jumper was the Appaloosa. My App is spotless except in the spring when she gets a little bit of a blanket on her butt-sometimes. She is really a cross between an app and a thoroughbred, but still is one of the best horses that I have ever had.
I like how Appys change color when they shed and grow winter coats. Tucker actually has decent spots but the picture is blurry. This one is a bit better, but he looks like a cranky moose. I love his coat pattern. They really are great horses.
I've had two and both were great. The one that I have now is somewhere between 25-30 years old, pretty much retired, she has the life. I have been looking for a new horse, not sure of what I really want. The SO likes gaited horses, me I prefer the apps but it makes it hard when we ride together as you can imagine. I have to go at a slow canter to keep up with him when he is walking.
Very nice looking horses and the fact that you "rescued"...way cool!
I ride western, hunt, and dressage. I prefer hunt seat the most though. I competed in almost everything out there on a Palomino Morgan mare I had. She could do anything!! We could go from a pokey western pleasure class straight into a barrel racing class and right back to a pleasure class. She was amazing....she would have been 33 this year....we had to put her down last fall. She was deaf and completely blind in one eye and going blind in the other. The other horses helped her a lot, but it was getting harder and harder to keep weight on her so I did the humane thing.....it sucked!!! I also had a beautiful Quarter Horse who I lost a month ago, he made it to his 30th birthday. He was an awesome Halter/western pleasure horse that I also turned into a hunter. He was 1350 pounds of muscle in his prime and still hacked out in a Class A Quarter Horse show and won! He was a great horse and I miss him terribley.....
