“She’s just a little angel,” Shawndreaka Brinkley said.
The story of this newest addition to the Brinkley family actually began 30 miles away, in the back of an ambulance. She was 11 weeks early.
“I raised the sheet just in time to catch the baby,” Matagorda County EMS paramedic Rick McKinley said.
McKinley delivered the tiny girl and immediately started CPR.
“A few times you know, it would seem the baby would kick its leg or more an arm,” he said. “I would stop and assess the baby – still wasn’t breathing or didn’t have a pulse.”
It took 30 minutes for the ambulance to get to the emergency room at UTMB in Galveston, and then a neonatal team took over efforts to save the newborn.
“We did probably another 30 minutes or so of CPR,” UTMB Dr. Snehal Doshi said. “At that point she still did not respond.”
The medical team made a tough decision.
“We felt anymore measures would have hurt the baby,” Dr. Doshi said.
The preemie was left on a warming bed to pass away. The family thought she was already dead.
“I was just shocked and surprised and sad,” Brinkley said.
Forty-five minutes later a nurse noticed the baby girl was breathing.
“Well I could probably give you all kinds of scientific reasons about why she came back,” neonatologist Dr. Joan Richardson said. “I just prefer to think it is a miracle.”
The family has no doubts.
“I started praising the Lord and crying at the same time,” aunt Carolyn Brinkley said. “I knew God had done it. I knew.”
“It’s a miracle, so we named her Amiracle,” mom Shawndreaka said.
Sometimes you just have to believe.
*sometimes you just know that they are here for a reason.
After reading about a mother who killed her baby by cooking it in the microwave, a woman who injected her young nephew with heroin, a man who punished his 11 year old son by pouring hot sauce on his genitals and in his eyes (oh, and tying his hands behind his back and covering his body with ants), I don't really mind reading something like this for a change.

Probably in the same book as the recipe for Fried Faggot.
Dont forget the daisies in your bung hole, for garnish.
